Mind: Innovative Digital & STEM Curriculum

Our student's education is differentiated according to each student’s ability. The development of communication, personal and social skills forms a large part of their plan, with an emphasis placed on establishing appropriate social and emotional behavior in school and home.

 

A one-size-fits-all approach to education fails to meet the diverse learning needs of students with Autism who need differentiated support. Students aren't successful in a traditional classroom environment and a traditional online digital experience. Our digital curriculum provides a personalized learning experience that lets students learn in their own way and at their own pace. Apex Learning, our digital curriculum at Mastery Learning Education, supports student academic achievement and mastery.
 
Rigorous and  Engaging


Our comprehensive courses are built to standards to meet and exceed middle and high school state requirements. Engaging content keeps students interested and motivated to succeed. At the same time, our courses are designed to help students learn independently.
 

Body:Extra-Curricular Activities

Extra-curricular activities include adaptive recreation opportunities through a partnership with the Arizona Special Olympics (Unified Sports). Our physical education program includes fitness-training, basketball, soccer, track & field, and softball.   Mastery Learning Education's unique model and school culture help to produce social, emotional and academic achievement for our students.
 

The reason why local educators, therapists, and community leaders decided to open Mastery Learning Education is because of our dream to help create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. As an Amazon Future Engineer’s school, we offer coding classes and offer Advanced Placement (AP) computer science classes. We have FIRST Robotics Teams, which is a year-long project-based learning experience where students create robots and program them to compete in local, state and national tournaments.
 

Emotion: Positive Behavior Support (PBS)

Autistic individuals ((Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)) may be at increased risk of experiencing victimization or significant stressors and may have limited coping skills to respond to these experiences. We do not fully understand how traumatic stress impacts individuals with ASD, and there is limited research on treatment of trauma symptoms in this Neurodivergent population.

Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a behavioral intervention gaining in popularity for use with Autism Spectrum Disorders for resolving behavior problems. Children are supported in adopting socially meaningful behaviors, avoiding inappropriate behaviors, and learning functional skills as a replacement for problem behavior. It is based on principles regarding the rights of all children to be treated with dignity and have access to educational opportunities.
